This morning on Heart Breakfast, Jamie Theakston shared the heartwarming news that he is cancer free and ready to return to the show. After a five-month battle with stage one laryngeal cancer, Theakston will officially be back on air with Amanda Holden and JK this coming Monday.

Theakston was diagnosed with stage one laryngeal cancer in September 2024, after listeners noticed a change in his voice. Shortly after, he announced the news on social media, revealing that JK would step in as his temporary replacement while he underwent treatment.

Appearing on Heart Breakfast today, Jamie reflected on his challenging journey:

“Today is the four-month anniversary of my cancer diagnosis. So it’s been four months, and I’ve had enough of hospitals and operations, and it’s just lovely to be back, and I’ve got some news for you. Because I can tell you that as of today, I’m cancer free!”

Jamie expressed heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported him during his treatment, calling the experience “awful” but acknowledging the “amazing” kindness and encouragement he received along the way. He also praised JK for stepping in at short notice, recognising the challenges of balancing his radio duties with family commitments.

In response, JK said:

“I’m so happy that Jamie is cancer free and that the gang is back together.”

The bond between the hosts was evident, as the conversation underscored the camaraderie and resilience that define Heart Breakfast.
