Jaz Singh Joins BBC Asian Network
BBC Asian Network has announced that Jaz Singh will take on a new afternoon programme from Monday 1 September, airing Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 6pm. The move marks Jaz’s first full-time radio presenting role, following his rise to prominence as a finalist on BBC TV’s The Traitors. He has since covered various Asian Network shows, hosted Asian Network Motivation, and fronted a documentary for BBC Radio 4. Jaz described the opportunity as “a dream”, thanking those who have supported his journey from reality TV to live radio.
The station is also introducing new voices in other time slots. Harleen Nottay will present The Everyday Hustle every Monday at 6am, offering tips and stories on business and entrepreneurship within British Asian communities. Harleen, an award-winning presenter and reporter from Scotland, has worked on projects including BAFTA-winning Scam Interceptors, Channel 4’s The £12 Million Rental Scam: UNTOLD, and BBC One’s Morning Live.
On Friday nights from 9pm to midnight, Midlands duo Kades and Mr.O will take over from DJ Limelight, who has hosted weekend evening shows for over 18 years. Limelight will continue to present the New Music Show every Wednesday at 8pm. Mr.O brings more than 15 years of DJ experience and has been appearing on Asian Network since earlier this year, while Kades has built a significant online following for her remixes and genre-blending edits. Both expressed excitement about joining the station and bringing their energy to the Friday night slot.
Head of Asian Network Ahmed Hussain said the changes reflect the station’s commitment to celebrating British Asian voices and music culture, while introducing fresh talent from across the UK. The schedule updates follow the station’s relocation to Birmingham in April as part of the BBC’s Across the UK strategy, which aims to broaden representation and regional presence across its services.
