Times Radio Reaches One Billion Views on YouTube
Less than five years since its launch on 25th June 2020, Times Radio is celebrating a major digital milestone, reaching one billion views on its dedicated YouTube channel, which now boasts 1.37 million subscribers.
The journey began with an interview featuring then-Prime Minister Boris Johnson, posted on the very day the station launched. Since then, the channel has grown rapidly, now clocking up an impressive 58 million views every month.
As well as visualised clips from the Times Radio schedule, the station has seen major success with Frontline, a YouTube-first video series focused on the war in Ukraine and broader global defence issues. With over 850 episodes published, the series has become a standout hit on the platform.
Building on that momentum, Times Radio has launched three more YouTube-first series: The Trump Report, covering Donald Trump’s presidency, Superpowers, looking at the global security race, and Thinkers, an interview series featuring academics and commentators.
Jack Kennedy, Head of Content for News Broadcasting Digital, said, “This is a brilliant achievement for a relatively new news brand… Hitting one billion lifetime channel views is a testament to the focus and hard work… turning brilliant radio into a brilliant video experience.”
Tim Levell, Programme Director at Times Radio, added, “The growth of video content from Times Radio has been nothing short of extraordinary… Publishing the interviews on YouTube… has enabled them to reach huge new audiences… The whole team… has taken great pleasure in seeing the runaway success of the brand.”
From its first upload to its billionth view, Times Radio’s YouTube channel continues to grow its global audience, proving that smart, in-depth journalism has a powerful place in the digital age.
