BBC Radio WM is set to welcome two new voices to its weekend lineup, with TV presenter, singer, and actor Mark Rhodes, and Black Country comedian Darren Harriott, joining the station. The dynamic duo will each bring their unique energy to the airwaves, making weekend mornings on BBC Radio WM a must-listen for audiences across the West Midlands.
Mark Rhodes, a proud Midlander and passionate football fan, will host Saturday Mornings from 10am – 2pm. His show, which launches on Saturday, 7th September, will focus on sport, particularly football in the region. Reflecting on his new role, Mark expressed his excitement:
“As a proud Midlander and football fan it makes me feel like I’m coming home to BBC WM. The West Midlands community is the best in the country, and I’m really looking forward to chatting to the people that make this region thrive. I cannot wait to get started. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and September can’t come soon enough.”
On Sunday mornings from 10am – 2pm, comedian Darren Harriott will take over, bringing his signature humour and charm to the station. Darren, who has gained national recognition through TV shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats and Richard Osman’s House of Games, is thrilled to be hosting his own show in the region he holds dear:
“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would get to host my own BBC radio show, especially in the area I love the most… the West Midlands! I’m excited to bring lots of laughs and fun every Sunday morning right into the afternoon. I can’t wait!”
Listeners can catch these new shows on BBC Radio WM, BBC CWR, and BBC Sounds starting from Saturday, 7th September. With Mark and Darren at the helm, the weekend mornings promise to be filled with engaging conversations, plenty of laughs, and a celebration of all things West Midlands.
